ForEverglades: The Photography of Clyde Butcher and Jeff Ripple showcases these accomplished photographers' work to convey the hidden beauty of the Florida Everglades. Both Butcher and Ripple approached this project as artists, rather than scientists, venturing deep into the swamp in search of perfect locations and light. The photos, accompanied by the photographers' thoughts, are a celebration of this mysterious land. Manatee Children's Service Toy Drive

SCF Art Gallery Presents "John Hampshire: Expressive Eccentricities"

Event begins with opening reception from 6-8pm on 11/13. Gallery will be showing exhibit from 10am-3pm starting 11/16-12/17. State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Fine Art Gallery will display cutting-edge images by contemporary artist John Hampshire at an opening reception 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West, building 11 North. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibit, “John Hampshire: Expressive Eccentricities,” features his unique work that combines colorful confetti-like paint strokes with a static, formal portrait. A 2002 New York Times review states, “John Hampshire is a virtuoso with a brush. When looking at his oversize canvases, viewers might imagine him handling his brushes like an orchestra conductor who waves his wand with punctuation and prowess.” As a commitment to offer the public and academic community examples of cutting-edge trends in contemporary art, SCF also has invited Hampshire to discuss his artistic form with students at SCF. Hampshire is an assistant professor of studio art at Adirondack Community College in New York. He has a master of fine arts in painting from Skidmore College. He has exhibited individual and group work at Washington Square East Galleries, John Sayles School of Fine Arts and Soho20 in New York. Fine art exhibit dates are Nov. 13 - Dec. 17. Bradenton Courthouse Square Concerts - Fridays

This is a repeating event every FRIDAY. It will NOT occur in June, July, Aug., Sept. The Bradenton Downtown Development Authority hosts weekly, lunchtime concerts. The concerts, on the Manatee County Courthouse Square, are located on Manatee Avenue West between 10th and 12th streets. The concerts run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and feature a different musical performance each week. Citizens and business professionals are welcome to grab a bite to eat from one of downtown Bradenton’s restaurants, or bring your lunch from home and swing by Courthouse Square and enjoy the entertainment. Downtown Bradenton Farmers' Market - Saturdays

The Downtown Bradenton Farmers’ Market on Saturday, offers fresh food vendors, produce, plants and flowers, entertainment, prepared foods, gifts and lots of fun for the community every Saturday morning. Located on Main Street in downtown Bradenton, the event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Downtown parking is free on the weekend and dogs on leashes are welcome. The Downtown Farmers’ Market is designed to support local farmers and growers and other local businesses. The Market is intended to be a social place where families and friends from the community can gather and access fresh food. Interested vendors should contact Susan Blake for an application.
